Bio-incubators Nurturing Entrepreneurship for Scaling Technologies (Bio-NEST) scheme was launched by Biotechnology Industry Research Assistance Council (BIRAC) which was set up by Department of Biotechnology (DBT), Government of India. BIRAC launched the scheme ... with a vision to nurture and promote biotech innovation ecosystem in the country. Aspiring entrepreneurs in biotech domain needs facility and technical support to conceive their innovative ideas into viable products. The scheme provides funding support for establishment of incubation centres as a standalone or in association with host institutions to promote entrepreneurship culture. The scheme aims to provide space for testing and validating the ideas, technical support for operations, access to high end instrumentations at a place and provide opportunity to have networking with start-ups and mentors. Through Bio-NEST, BIRAC has supported 60 bio-incubators creating a start-up ecosystem to promote innovations towards achieving the grand aim of building US $100 billion bioeconomy in India.

National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Hyderabad is an "Institute of National Importance" with proclaimed objectives of becoming Centre of Excellence for advanced research in pharmaceutical sciences. NIPER-Mohali was the first institute established ... in the year 1998 under the aegis of Department of Pharmaceuticals, Ministry of Chemicals and Fertilizers, the Govt. of India. Later, the DOP established 6 new NIPERs across the country including NIPER-Hyderabad which started functioning from 19th October 2007, from the premises of erstwhile R&D Centre of IDPL, Balanagar, Hyderabad.

The centre has objective to encourage development and scale-up, stability studies of regulated, semi regulated and non-regulated markets for commercialization of various dosage forms.
